On October 28, 2024, the Council of the Township of West Lincoln passed its 2024 Development Charges Background Study and By-law as required by the Development Charges Act, 1997. The Township's previous Development Charges By-Law was set to expire on July 15, 2024. However, at the June 17, 2024 Administration/Finance/Fire Committee meeting, Council approved Staff Report T-13-2024, which removed the expiry date from the By-law.
The draft background study and the proposed by-law were posted on May 13, 2024. A public meeting was held on May 27, 2024 where the 2024 background study and proposed Development Charges By-Law were presented and the public was invited to make comments.
On October 7, 2024, the Township issued an Addendum to the Development Charges Background Study in response to the passing of Bill 185: Cutting Red Tape to Build More Homes Act, on June 6, 2024. The purpose of the addendum is to provide for changes to the May 13, 2024 draft background study, and to align the report and By-law with the Development Charges Act as amended by Bill 185. Council was presented with the Addendum and draft By-law on October 21, 2024, and provided approval of the DC Background Study and its Addendum, and the related By-law at their meeting on October 28, 2024.
